Queensland Stoma Association Inc is governed by an experienced and dedicated Executive Committee of Management. The committee is elected from and by members at the Association’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in September of each year.

The Executive Committee develops the policies and procedures for the operation of the association to ensure that all association activities meet its objectives and purpose and are within the guidelines set by the Department of Health and Ageing with respect to its Stoma Appliance Scheme activities.

 

 

President- Gerry Barry

As Association President since 1969, Gerry Barry has managed the associations evolution from a relatively small support network of a few hundred members to the large professional organisation servicing more than 2,100 members that it is today. Gerry’s experiences as a former Deputy Commissioner of Taxation, former President of the Australian Council of Stoma Associations (ACSA) and former committee member and Vice President of the International Ostomy Association (IOA) are invaluable to the successful financial and operational management of the Association.  

 

 

 

Vice-President – David Munro

David Munro was elected to the position of Vice President in 2011 following several years as Association Minutes Secretary. David has a background in Information Technology.

 

 

 

 

 

Treasurer – Joan Carruthers

Joan Carruthers has been Treasurer of the Association since 2009. Joan is a former small business owner (Scotland) and has extensive experience in Small Business Management. Joan is a trained ostomate visitor and has a hands on role within the association as a regular volunteer worker.

 

 

  

 

Secretary – Michael O’Rourke

Association Secretary since 2001, Michael has a background in retail operational management and sales. Like Joan, Michael is a trained ostomate visitor and works regularly within the association as a volunteer.

 

 

 

Committee Member - Noel Harbottle

Noel has been involved with the Association for many years as a volunteer and is the newest member of our committee. Noel was elected as a committee member at the 2011 Annual General Meeting.

 

 

 

  

 

 Committee Member – Basil Bean

Basil joined the Associations committee as Vice President in 2005 and retired to the position of Committee Member in 2011. Basil has been in involved in a number of not for profit committees and has experience in facets of Incorporated Association governance.
